Privacy Policy
HashMark collects no data.
Last updated: 23 October 2026
Overview
HashMark ("the App") is a Mac app made by VeloSec that converts PDF files to Markdown. This policy explains what the App does with your files and information. In short: everything happens on your Mac, and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.
Data We Collect
We do not collect, store or transmit any personal data. HashMark has no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no third-party SDKs that collect information about you. The App has no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for or sign in to.
Your Files
Conversion happens entirely on your Mac. The PDFs you convert, the text read from them and the Markdown and images the App writes are never uploaded. HashMark makes no network requests to convert a file, and works the same with Wi-Fi turned off.
Scanned pages are read with the text recognition built into macOS, which also runs on your Mac.
Data Stored on Your Mac
To work, HashMark keeps a small amount of information on your Mac, and only there:
- Folder permissions: the App Store requires apps to ask before saving files. When you allow HashMark to save in a folder, macOS gives it a bookmark to that folder, which HashMark stores so it does not need to ask again. The folders you have allowed are listed in HashMark's Settings, where you can remove them.
- Settings: your choices for "Save images" and "Replace existing Markdown files".
- Files waiting to convert: when you convert from Finder's right-click menu, the Finder extension passes the selected files to the App through a shared container on your Mac. They are removed once the App picks them up.
The App Store
HashMark is distributed through the Mac App Store, and downloads are handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive or store any payment information, and Apple does not share who you are with us.
Third-Party Services
HashMark does not use any third-party services. It does not contact our servers or anyone else's.
Children's Privacy
The App does not collect information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
Data Deletion
Everything HashMark stores is on your Mac. You can remove it at any time by:
- Removing folders from the list in HashMark's Settings.
- Deleting the App, which removes its settings and saved folder permissions.
The Markdown files and images HashMark creates are ordinary files, and are yours to keep or delete.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be shown on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
